BOOK 1 PREVIEW - The twins walked hesitantly towards the arch. It was very pretty and it certainly didn't look magic. Ritchie and Lauren stood in front of it, so they could see through to the other side. They could see the apple trees, the pear trees and even the vegetable patch. It all looked exactly the same as it had the night before when Grandpa Joe had shown them the garden. At that moment Mrs Hart's cat ran past them, chasing a butterfly. They could see still see it sitting under the first tree, so surely Mrs Hart had been teasing them they thought. Each child remained silent at first, but knew exactly what the other was thinking.
“Do you really think we should go through it, if it's magic?” asked Lauren finally.
“Of course it's not magic” scoffed Ritchie. “Look, I'll show you” he said, grabbing his sister's hand and dragging her through the arch. As he did so, the ground seemed to crumble away.
“Riittcchheeeeee” Lauren cried as she fell.
“I'm here” he called back, sounding much braver than he felt. They landed on something soft and warm.
“Ow, that hurt” said a male voice. Ritchie and Lauren sprang up in fright.
“Who was that?” whimpered Lauren.
BOOK 2 PREVIEW
“Oh no, the poor boy” said Mrs Lewis. “Take this and let him out” she said, removing the same key from her pocket she had used to lock the dining room door.
“You have a key to Tom's shed?” Aimee asked puzzled. “Not just to the shed door, but to every door in Ridgewell Heights” said Mrs Lewis with a mischievous grin.
“Wow” said Ritchie. “I found it when I first came here and was clearing out the old store cupboards. It's called a master key” said Mrs Lewis. “Now take it quickly and be careful no one sees you.”
Karl sent the girls back to their bedroom to wait, whilst he and Ritchie went to rescue Cameron. The two boys crept out into the moonlight and slowly made their way over to the shed. Karl took the key from his pocket and slipped it into the lock. He turned it and opened the door. The bright light from the moon flooded the shed but Cameron had gone.

About the Book
The Adventure Door is the story of twins Ritchie and Lauren Carter who always spend a week of every school holiday visiting their grandparents. Six months ago Grandpa Joe and Grandma Ivy moved to their new cottage on the coast. Readers will be treated to a special suprise, with the first offering housing 'Where it all began' and 'Return to Courtney Bay', the first two books in the series in one bumper edition. Each story begins and ends at the breakfast table, where Grandpa reads of a crime in the local newspaper and then tells all again when it is solved. In the garden there is a beautiful rose arch, stretching from one side to the other and more than a little mystery and intrigue can be found beyond it. Add to that Mrs Hart, their grandparents elderly neighbour who isn't quite what she seems....or is she?
About the Author
Wendy Jane Collins, was born in Orsett, Essex on June 12th 1968. She was an only child but went on to have six children of her own. Four daughters ranging in age from twenty five down to six, with the youngest suffering from autism. Sadly her identical twin sons were born early at twenty six weeks and didn't survive. Wendy has also been blessed with two beautiful granddaughters. Today, Wendy lives in Aveley, Essex with her husband and her family and is currently studying from home to become a counsellor. In her spare time Wendy organises charity events with her family and has been able to donate to many worthwhile causes thanks to the support of local people. A donation from the sale of each book will be given to Treetops, the special needs school her youngest daughter is a pupil at and also to the special care baby unit at Basildon Hospital.
