About the Book
A gifted writer and spoken word performer, he is the creator of a series of slave narratives, in commemoration and celebration of Juneteenth, The narratives have been presented in various venues throughout the region, including locations as far away as Kentucky, Youngstown, Ohio, public libraries (like the Carnegie), Wheeling WVA Community College and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Reading & Cultural Center in Pittsburgh PA, which houses The Langston Hugh Reference Library Section he initiated.
About the Author
Lewis L. Colyar, founder and Executive Director of the Langston Hughes Poetry Society of Pittsburgh and creator of 7th Poet Productions, is a recording Blues Artist Poet with Supertown Records and Music of Pittsburgh. His poetry can be found on several Websites. His poem, AMNO BLUES (Alabama-Mississippi-New Orleans), was used in a documentary on Katrina produced by Night Rockers Production Nathan (Shane) Plummer Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Named the Poet Laureate for Gospel Music Ministries International Arts Fellowship, he is also a member of Broadcast Music Incorporate. Additionally he is the co-writer along with Renee Wilson of the play UNSPOKEN REQUEST. They performed the production and were cast as the key characters’ Elijah, and Julia Mae. Mr. Colyar did not complete the normal matriculation process of his education. He only went to the 10th grade. He left school to travel in pursuit of his dream for a writing career. He, however, later re-enrolled in school to finish his education and secured his GED. He was 2nd in the Nation in Math, Reading and Writing. His continual education pursuit is a forever evolving process for future degrees and/or certifications.
