White Jr. Oh River of Eden Was it your face that God’s Spirit moved upon (Genesis, 1:2) Did you hear God’s voice when he spoke the dawn (Genesis, 1:3) What a mighty and majestic river, you must have been Flowing through Eden’s garden without an end Eastward in Eden you watered that which was planted by the Almighty Did the Sun warm you by day, The Moon and the Stars did they see their reflections during the night Did Heaven open itself to display Mighty and majestic river have you not a name In Genesis (2:10) I feel the spirit of your strength, but none sing a refrain But I: Eden’s River, Mighty and majestic river, flowing until you became four: I know of Pison, I know of Gihon I know of Hidekel I know of Euphrates Of all I can tell, But its you that I adore (Genesis, 2:11) You that nourished both the Tree of knowledge And the Tree of Life… Of you not a scripture tells me more oh mighty majestic river metallic blue veil between heaven and earth a thousand angels with sun-ray tongues singing mimic the sound you make was your churning the vibration of God’s voice did the remnants of stardust settle as gold upon your banks did earth wind and fire envy your liquid musings were you the mythical source of Ethiopia’s valor did your ancient gulf swallow tears that dripped from the eyes of ancient spirits did God soak His feet on the seventh day leaving imprints beneath thy infinite depths did your graceful melodic dance through the garden inspire the creation of woman majestic river deliver the giver of names to every living creature comfort in this magic place space where El Elyon resides breathing leaving dew drops on the topside of souls flow river flow river flow river flow through Genesis 2:10 sacrifice thy girth to cool the earth Oh River of Eden In the deluge did the depth of waters, break forth from you? Did you cry for the Paradise you once knew Was it your waters that sailed the Ark forty days and nights (Genesis, 6:17) The Sun, Moon and Stars did they vanish from your sight Oh River of Eden did the flood waters carry you away or were you there when the Ark saw a brand new day…(Genesis, 8:1-12) Lastly, did the dove drink of your water afresh Oh River of Eden, you I will always relish Flow river flow river flow river flow (Genesis, 8:1-12)

About the Book
A gifted writer and spoken word performer, he is the creator of a series of slave narratives, in commemoration and celebration of Juneteenth, The narratives have been presented in various venues throughout the region, including locations as far away as Kentucky, Youngstown, Ohio, public libraries (like the Carnegie), Wheeling WVA Community College and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Reading & Cultural Center in Pittsburgh PA, which houses The Langston Hugh Reference Library Section he initiated.
About the Author
Lewis L. Colyar, founder and Executive Director of the Langston Hughes Poetry Society of Pittsburgh and creator of 7th Poet Productions, is a recording Blues Artist Poet with Supertown Records and Music of Pittsburgh. His poetry can be found on several Websites. His poem, AMNO BLUES (Alabama-Mississippi-New Orleans), was used in a documentary on Katrina produced by Night Rockers Production Nathan (Shane) Plummer Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Named the Poet Laureate for Gospel Music Ministries International Arts Fellowship, he is also a member of Broadcast Music Incorporate. Additionally he is the co-writer along with Renee Wilson of the play UNSPOKEN REQUEST. They performed the production and were cast as the key characters’ Elijah, and Julia Mae. Mr. Colyar did not complete the normal matriculation process of his education. He only went to the 10th grade. He left school to travel in pursuit of his dream for a writing career. He, however, later re-enrolled in school to finish his education and secured his GED. He was 2nd in the Nation in Math, Reading and Writing. His continual education pursuit is a forever evolving process for future degrees and/or certifications.
