About the Book

‘From the Thorn Bush comes forth a Rose’ Jewish Proverb Cancer affects all of us in different ways at some point in our lives, sometimes it’s a thorn that develops on our rose, sometimes it’s one that stings the stem of a loved one’s rose, a disease that creeps around the bud until the life has been strangled from it. Some of us get a chance to fight it; others are forced to bloom before their time, but the rose is still beautiful, no matter how short the stem is cut. So know that each of life’s blessings is a Kiss from your Rose - don’t take a single second for granted.

About the Author

I am a 25 year old graduate from Warwick University. I graduated with a 2.1 in Comparative American Studies in summer 2009, and currently work for Sky News. The novel is an account of my experience of having cancer over the last ten years. It is very personal, and very honest. It focuses mainly on my initial diagnoses at the age of 16, but also touches on the my four subsequent relapses. I wrote it primarily for other teenagers who are about to go through similar treatment, those who are beginning their journey, perhaps facing months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I hope I have been successful in my design for the novel to be eye opening, but not daunting, comforting, but not sugar-coated. I live in London, surrounded by a very supportive family. My boyfriend of four years has also shown unfaltering strength throughout my battle with the disease, he has been a pillar of strength during my darkest hours. 'Kiss From A Rose' is about appreciating the beauty of life's bud as it blooms. Although you may catch yourself on life's thorns, the pain you incur does not make the rose any less exquisite.
