About the Book

Josh Holcomb and Liz Becker had met at the Haven of Rest Ranch over the 4th of July weekend. He was captivated; she didn't think she could even tolerate him; but activities at the ranch made it inevitable that they spend time together and actually become friends. Now, at the October wedding of Jon Holcomb and Christy Hayes, they are together again and feel an even greater closeness, so their phone and e-mail communication lines are kept open. The next few months, however, find both of them in other relationships, but their feelings for one another just won't let go, so where will this friendship finally end?

About the Author

Being one of the lucky ones, whose parents didn't have to move around after she was ready to start school, Sally went from first grade through graduation with the same group of friends, just adding more at the junior high and senior high shool levels. High school years can be filled not only with studies, but with dates, dances, sports events, stage productions, special clubs, and many other happy and rewarding times. There can also be some rather stressful decisions to be made about the future, but the years spent in high school are some of the most exciting of a person's life. Sally was only a teenager during WWII, but she got to know some of the servicemen who were stationed in Galesburg, Illinois, and corresponded with them after they'd been transferred. She also wrote to several during the Korean conflict which included her future husband. It was wonderful training in writing as she described in detail what was going on at home. Sally found her first real love as a junior in High school. He was a year older and they had talked of marriage after she graduated, but that was not to be. However, now as she remembers her youth and romantic experiences, as well as watching her sons and grandchildren grow up, she has some insight for writing about the perplexing situations that Josh and Liz face in this touching story of young love. Sally was retired and had moved to Lawrence, KS, before she actually decided to try writing a novel. She enjoys creating the characters, the events, and also the final conclusions.
