About the Book

I wrote this nine stories during the 1950's. I wrote for my chlidren to read and some cases I read them to my younger children. I filed them all the way and didn't find them again until recently. At which point, I revised and edited the nine stories for publication. Each of the nine stories is a fictional piece, a few of which are based on events in my life and all are based on events in 1940's and 1950's.

About the Author

He received both his B.A. And M.A. Degrees from Highlands University. He then worked in the Roswell City Schools for thirteen years, the last nine of which he served as Director of Instruction for the District. He resigned his commission as Captain in the N.M. National Guard to complete his doctoral degree at the University of Northern Colorado. Moving to Las Cruces and New Mexico State University he served as director of Student Teaching, Head of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and for the last three years before retiring he directed the Center for Improving the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics. In 1970, he was awarded the Robert Westhafer Award for Excellence in Teaching. He was elected and served as President of the National Association for Curriculum and Development during 1977-78. Hosford and his wife, Valentine, had five children: Hollis Lynn and Matthew Lisle, both of Tucson, AZ, Shannon Claire of Dallas, TX, Michael Hays, Klamath Falls, OR, and Philip Lewis, Montgomery Village, Md.
