All three stared out across a lake shrouded in a heavy fog. Mountain peaks were just barely visible over the fog and the lake was as smooth as glass. The shore was covered in small stones and shale and crackled as they walked closer to the water’s edge. The only sound heard were their footsteps. There were No birds, no squirrels, and just an eerie quiet. “You’d never know this was here back at the campground,” said Zach. Neil wandered over to the edge of the water and tried to see through the fog. “Can’t see a thing from about twenty feet in. The stuff’s awful thick.” “Maybe its magic,” teased Zach as he moved to stand next to him. Neil looked at him. “What time is it?” “Ten to nine.” “Didn’t we have to do a thing before nine or somethin?” Tony asked. “Yes we do. I guess we better throw that stone out before it’s too late.” Neil dropped his gym bag and dug the stone out from within the pouch. “Did we have to throw it in particular direction or anything? Maybe skip it a couple times?” kidded Zach with a chuckle. Neil took two steps back from the shore. “You are just havin a hey day with this aren’t you?” “Hey, I know nothing is going to happen so I may as well enjoy this farce for as long as I can.” “And if you’re wrong?” “If I’m wrong and there is some other world, then,” he paused, thinking about it for a second. “Then I’ll buy you a bottle of the most expensive wine.” “Take it,” urged Tony. “I sure would.” Neil smiled and held out his hand. “That’s a deal.” Zach reiterated and nodded. “Done.” Neil looked down at the stone in his hand, and then back out at the water. He stepped back up to the shoreline and threw the stone as hard as he could. To his surprise it skipped across the surface a few times before it vanished into the mist. Now, all they could do was wait.

About the Book
What if someone came along and offered you a chance to take the 'road less travelled', the chance to live a dream? It began as a day no different than any other. Three men are brought together by circumstances that will forever change their lives. Each one are from a different walk of life but become connected through one particular event and little did they know that their day was about to be a whole lot different. A strange man arrives, claiming to be a wizard, talking of magic and of a different world. He offers the three "an offer you will find very hard to refuse". What they discover is a world where magic thrives! Where races thought to be of folklore and one's imagination are actually real! It is a world threatened by a witch bent on vengeance! The three are asked to help in a quest for three stones, which, when united can provide the power to stop the approaching darkness. Fighting their own disbelief's, the witch's minions, and even those they are asked to lead, the three need to find a way to overcome them all and in doing so, perhaps prove not only to those who have asked for their help, but to themselves that they are the 'heroes' this strange world has been looking for. With a little luck, they might even show that there is a little bit of 'hero' in all of them.
About the Author
KEVIN LEE is originally from the small town of Sturgis, Saskatchewan in Canada. He struck out for a career in radio right out of high school. It was on those long ‘overnight’ shifts that he began to work on his writing ‘urge’ when there wasn’t really a whole lot to do. He found that he really enjoyed putting his imagination down on paper and kept working at it while at home during his days off. One idea always turned into another and before he knew it, several short stories were done! He thought of taking it one step further and proceeded to give writing a novel a go! The process turned out to be long and tiring at times, but at the same time quite enjoyable! He found himself writing certain passages, taking a day off and then coming back to it and adding further to the developing story. Before he knew it, his first draft of a novel was done! He always had an interest in science fiction and fantasy with J.R.R. Tolkien and Terry Brooks being a couple of his favourite authors. It was from them that he found the inspiration to create his own ‘work’ and attempt to keep anyone who would read his material hooked as they had hooked him. The result was a couple of different ideas that eventually evolved into TRIO – Book One – ‘H*E*R*O*E*S’. It came together piece by piece until what you will soon read came to be. As the ‘TRIO’ and company continue on their travels in Book One the hope is that you will become as attached to the characters and their adventures as he did writing about them.
