About the Book

We all have a story to tell; I just decided to write mine in poetry to let people know it’s possible to overcome our mountains. I’m not perfect, but I do have faith. This book is about overcoming not just mountains but even ourselves. We always think that we know what we are doing and where were going. We have been fooling ourselves in so many ways. This book is to let people know they can change their situations. Sometimes we must go through it so we can show what faith can do, even if it’s the size of a mustard seed. This book is to let people know that no matter what your past was like, you can still become something special. Your past only determines your future if you let it. This book is about pain from a love one, struggles in life, regrets, victory over the enemy, faith, love, manhood, family, and the value of living. You must have a test in order to have a testimony. This book is about becoming a victor and not a victim. It’s about how you are at your best when you are tired and have nothing left to give. But you still hold your head high and keep fighting the good fight. Somebody told me that it’s better to see where you’re going and that the blind can’t lead the blind. I say that’s the problem: we depend on man to lead. But we also can’t see where we’re going. We must depend on somebody to guide us through the dark times. It just depends on who you choose to guide you. The blind can’t lead the blind, because both are blind men. I want God to guide me this time. That’s why I named the book Walking with My Eyes Closed.

About the Author

I have been incarcerated. I have a record. I have lied to others. I have been homeless. I have broken hearts. I have insecurities. I have regrets. I let my anger put me in places where I had to pray my way out. I’m a sinner. I’m not perfect. I have flaws. I have played all types of games. I have let others down. I have been depressed, disappointed, stubborn, selfish, tired, and have wanted to quit trying, feeling that it’s easier not to care than it is to care. I had money and watched it wasted away. I had to start over more than once. But with God in my heart, I still stand firm even on the shakiest ground. I can take all the bones in my closet and lay them out on my bed like an outfit. But can those who judge me do the same? Honestly, I don’t mind that you judge me. Go ahead, judge me, and I bet I will prove you wrong. I got tired of walking in the direction that I felt was right for me but also ending up where I started over and over again. This time I chose to “Walk by Faith and Not by Sight,” so I hope y’all enjoy the book and enjoy yourselves on this journey where you must “Walk with Your Eyes Closed.”
