About the Book
Braydie the Butterfly is a book for elementary-age students that promotes the acceptance of children with autism. The characters in the book each provide uplifting help to Braydie, giving her “wings” so she can excel in her lifelong journey with autism.
About the Author
The author, Wendy Ellis, is the mother of three children. Her daughter, Brayden, was diagnosed with autism at two years old. Wendy has been promoting autism awareness throughout Alabama since 2005, when her son’s youth baseball team hosted an autism awareness baseball tournament. It was during this time that she became aware of just how little the general public understands about autism. This book was written to educate the younger children as Brayden entered elementary school in the local public school system.
In her spare time, Wendy enjoys making stained glass windows and decorating her house for the annual Christmas tour in the Albany historic neighborhood in Decatur, Alabama. Wendy lives with her husband, John, her two sons, Brett and Brad, her daughter, Brayden, and her autism service dog, Puah.
