About the Book
“Collected Poems Volume II” follows in same theme as Bill Granse’s first collection of poetry. It traces his personal journey from a life of loneness, depression, and anger; to a far richer life of friendship, tolerance, and spiritual wholeness. These poems, written quite recently, as a collection have a more uplifting and light quality than Granse’s earlier works. Anyone who has struggled with mental illness and despair, or who is close to someone who has, should find this volume provocative and inspirational. This would include most of us.
About the Author
Bill Granse, born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan became a college English instructor. His successful, early career, was prematurely terminated by worsening mental illness. Years of drifting and intermittent institutionalization followed. Throughout this period, Granse wrote poetry, many of these poems are contained in his first volume of “Collected Poems”. The current poems have recently been written by the author in his current setting of assisted living. For the past two decades, the author has surmounted his mental difficulties, and become a stable contributing member of his community. He has volunteered at an outreach program teaching basic math and writing skills to mentally challenged adults. He regularly attends his local church and contributes to their newsletter. He has many friends both inside out outside his residential community. He continues to write poetry, and himself is an avid reader of other authors.
