A Dying Breed Volume 1

The light of the day was dimming. DeShaun could see the light of the sun in the distance, but not the sun itself. The colors in the sky had changed from blue to orange and purple now. The streetlights glowed like fireflies as they warmed up – preparing for another night of lighting the block. As DeShaun walked, noticing each detail of the filaments in the streetlights, he heard footsteps. He thought nothing of it at first, but then decided to turn and look just in case there was any danger. As soon as turned his head, he heard a loud “crack” as pain emanated from his right eye. When the stars cleared from his vision, he found himself on the ground being kicked and punched relentlessly. Between blows, DeShaun rolled onto his back so he could see who was attacking him. It was Tony and a few other gang members. He could barely speak when he muttered, “Please… stop.” “This is never going to stop! This is for the loss you caused.” Tony said as he kicked him again. “My cousin died because you distracted him from his job! Now, you can either pay up, or join us and earn your keep.” Tony said as he kicked DeShaun one more time. “You better figure out a way to take care of business, or else I’ll make sure your precious art NEVER gets seen again!” Tony shouted. “This is never going to stop! This is for the loss you caused.” Tony said as he kicked him again. “My cousin died because you distracted him from his job!
