Suddenly his cows lifted up their tails, bellowed and mooed, and ran off as if for dear life. This puzzled the old man very much. There must be some kind of danger coming his way. Baba waited, he was too old to run. Then he came to understand why. “Shumba!” he exclaimed. African wild dogs were in hot pursuit of a male lion! The lion was running towards Baba. What was he going to do? He could not run away, he was just too old. He could not fight the lion, he was too weak. So he just stood by ready for anything, if death then be it. He had only his walking stick straddled across his shoulders.

About the Book
This stories in this book are based on true experiences involving mainly African children. In this volume, the reader not only gets to learn of the vibrant characters of these children and youth, but also gets a glimpse of the culture, tradition, and part of their way of life. The general setting for these stories is in the distant rural areas not yet tainted by the intricacies of modern life. In these places, the people would rely on simple modes of transport such as riding on donkeys or donkey-carts. But these stories also reflect how resolute and determined African children can be in their attempts to be obedient to their parents, teachers, relatives, and the village elders. Community among African children reflects the values instilled upon them by their parents. Many of the characters in this story are young believers in the Christian faith. Some of the children have demonstrated that raw faith which made sure nothing stood in between them and what they believed in. The stories reflect the reality of the African adventurous life. They contain lessons of life and the desired values any serious parent would like to see developing in their children. This volume will certainly be a good read for anybody who would enjoy reading about what is happening at the other side of the world, or around them.
About the Author
Olaotse Obed Gabasiane is a father, pastor, and currently a World Mission student at the Andrews University Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, Berrien Springs, MI, USA. He has two young children that have enjoyed his stories as he told and re-told them. Further, he has shared children stories in his speaking appointment whenever children have gathered. Olaotse O Gabasiane is a keen and creative children story teller--especially those captivating African stories, most of which are based on true experiences. He writes in response of calls to put these stories in writing so children may enjoy them any time they wished. He currently contributes to a children's story column for the MASDAC Church Monthly Bulletin. The author hails from Botswana, Africa, where he has served as pastor and church administrator for about ten years.
