Present I am here although you may not see me, may wish I did not breathe or pray that I become un-deep but I am here. You may want to put me down like the hood that I was born in, may want to cut your eye at me, when all I can do is grin because I am here, refusing to be a "has been". I am here, despite the lies and pain that you want me to believe, I am here, at least for now.

About the Book
Poetry 2Life is a compilation of poems written while observing and overcoming different phases of life. The poems were inspired by the pains faced while living and the spirit of determination to overcome them all. The poems were written from the perspective of different eyes: a child, a mother, a teacher, are just a few. This special collection of poetry is one that can be appreciated by all ages and hues. Each section of Poetry 2Life expresses the sentiments of three different phases of life: * Youth: Unlearned Innocence - a time where innocence leads to lessons learned. * Struggle: Pathway To Redemption - the experiences that can not be avoided by life yet give the stamina and wisdom to continue living * Love: Illuminated In The Dark - the beauty and the pain of life's most significant feeling. Poetry 2Life will be a reminder, that regardless of circumstances and locations, there is always a lesson to learn, a facet that can be appreciated after the storm. Allow the poetry in these pages to touch, inspire and motivate.
About the Author
About the Author D.D. Wright was raised in the Bronx, located in New York City. She was raised by her mother with great support from relatives and the communities that she encountered. Growing up in an urban setting, D.D. Wright has been exposed to harsh realities. Her writing reflects those observations as well as a sense of determination to overcome them. She graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School. She later obtained her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology as well as her Masters of Science Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, from Herbert H. Lehman College. D.D. Wright has been an elementary and junior high school teacher in New York City since 2002. She currently teaches Creative Writing to junior high school students in the Bronx. In addition to teaching, she is also a certified Life Coach. D.D. Wright has been writing poetry for two decades. She has slammed (spoken word) poetry at clubs such as The Nuyorican Poet's Cafe and the Sugarshack in New York City. Her poems, “Why” and “Death Games”, have been published in anthologies by The National Library of Poetry as a result of winning national poetry contests. She currently resides in the Bronx. In her spare time, D.D. Wright enjoys reading, traveling as well as spending time with her daughter, family and friends.
