Rodney Beckinson Jr. was riding on his bike on the sidewalk of Orchard Street. He looked in the driveways of neighbors and saw kids playing basketball. He wanted to play. But he couldn’t. He didn’t know how to play. He kept riding until some neighborhood kids met him at his bike. Eddie, the leader of the group, walked up to the bike and stopped it. “What’s going on, Beckinson?” he asked. Eddie had a wise smirk on his face. “I’m just strolling through the town.” Rodney answered. “Can I have that bike?” Eddie asked. “Keep dreaming, buddy.” Rodney answered. As he tried to ride away, Eddie pushed Rodney off the bike and put the bike on the grass. The gang walked up to Rodney and started kicking him. Blood came from Rodney’s nose.

‘The Foul Shot’ by Aaron Acquah, is an inspirational novel about the life of a child called Rodney, who faces the chronicles of life. He fights problems with bullying, harassments, low self-esteem and many more... He then starts to play basketball and becomes an All Star.
In the story, I mention Magic Johnson, LeBron James, Kevin Garnet, Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade and other famous basketball players. I did that because they are some of my favorite players and have become a role model to several kids for their positive contribution to society. I hope this book gives them more publicity. I am also hoping to meet them one day. |

About the Author
Aaron Acquah, the author of ‘The Foul Shot’, was born on March 8th, 2002 in New Brunswick, NJ. USA. In his early pre-school childhood years, Aaron att ended the Montessori School [an educati onal establishment that is characterized by an emphasis on independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child’s natural psychological development] and the Goddard School [a program that focuses on children’s emoti onal, social, intellectual and physical development]. In the fall of 2007, Aaron was enrolled at Sharon Elementary School in Robbinsville - a school district that was designated as ‘High Performing’ aft er undergoing the Quality Single Accountability Conti nuum (QSAC) district performance review. As early as 1st grade, Aaron developed a passion for reading and writi ng. He would staple printer sheets together and write short stories for fun. His favorite books were Big Nate and The Diary of a Wimpy Kid... It wasn’t unti l late in 3rd grade, aft er several encouragements and support, that Aaron decided to write and publish his fi rst book. ‘The Foul Shot’ is not Aaron’s fi rst book; it’s his fi rst published book. The characters, story, words and all other contents of this book is solely the work of Aaron. He wrote it word for word himself, without any assistance from anyone. Currently in 5th grade at Pond Road Middle School, Aaron loves to play basketball and is enrolled in Robbinsville Basketball Associati on. It comes as no surprise that Aaron put his talents together and came up with ‘The Foul Shot’, a book about basketball. Aaron’s dream is to become a professional basketball player and an author.
