About the Author
Fil Filipov retired effective January 1st, 2004. and was replaced
by his 35 years old son Steve Filipov.
Fil Filipov was President and CEO of Terex Lifting, a $1 billion
business segment of Terex Corporation. Born in Bulgaria, he
escaped Communism at the age of seventeen and spent time in a
Greek refugee camp before emigrating to the United States of
America. Starting in Chicago in 1966 as an hourly worker with
International Harvester Company, his strong drive and determination
quickly gave him the opportunity to lead.
Fil Filipov was Vice President, Construction Equipment Europe
at J.I. Case Co. before joining Terex in 1993.
His specialty is turning around failing companies. He has successfully
addressed turn around challenges in France, United
Kingdom, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and USA.
The infamous Fil Filipov's achievements are well known. His
successful journey over 35 years has been the result of applying
unconventional and often unpopular tactics.
