To Fly Out

About the Book

We all need to fly out and learn about the world. In To Fly Out, author J. S. Riamliw’s debut book, Idle Bird likes to sleep late instead of getting up and flying out with his family to find food. But when his mother, brother, and sister are caught in a storm, he finds himself at home alone and changes his behavior. To survive, he now must learn to fly out on his own to find food. This is just one of life’s many little lessons that can be learned from To Fly Out.

About the Author

J. S. Riamliw is a doctoral candidate in the Language, Literacy, and Culture program at the University of Pittsburgh. He has served as a faculty member at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in Thailand. His interest in writing children’s books derives from his childhood experiences of watching movies and television series and his recent doctoral studies in family literacy. He wrote his first book, To Fly Out, while working on his dissertation research. For Riamliw, learning is everywhere!
