About the Author

Born to Carlton and Patricia Lynch, Carlotta Norton first arrived in the United States from Guyana at the tender age of fifteen. In spite of the challenge of being virtually on her own, Carlotta worked as a nanny/housekeeper while being a part-time student. Her relentless hard work paid off as she realized her initial goals of obtaining a green card by the age of twenty. Her commitment to education along with her drive for excellence led her to open her own business, a full-time childcare service where children of diverse ethnic backgrounds benefit from traditional and nontraditional methods of teaching in an environment that stimulates and promotes learning and tolerance. Mrs. Norton’s personal motto of working hard today to make provisions for tomorrow is reflected in the school’s curriculum. Carlotta’s focus extends beyond education, and her goals beyond profits. Her interests extend beyond education—encompassing personal care, mentorship, social consciousness, emotional growth, and spiritual wellness. Her philanthropy addresses a spectrum of community issues, ESL classes, child-rearing classes, time/money management training for new and expectant mothers, culinary arts, as well as food and clothing distribution to those in need.
