Where secular-morality will lead us is anyone's guess. Moral codes that have long been in existence and derived from the "self-evident belief" that they are provided by our Creator are eroding. When those beliefs erode, human behavior tends to deteriorate. If there is no guidance from God, then power, greed, material goods and other flaws of humans, become acceptable and often are the measurements of success. We are only beginning to emerge from a Great Recession that was partially and maybe primarily due to greed. If humans begin believing that there are no boundaries that constitute acceptable behavior then traditional boundaries erode. Society changes and in this country society is changing. If fulfillment comes from drugs do drugs. The culture of a society is dependent on the morals of a society. They are linked. Eventually the culture and morals also affect the economics of a society. Power becomes a driving force in a faith-based moral vacuum. Self-fulfillment replaces faith. We are becoming governed by some people who believe they have a birthright to hold office. Much of the daily activities of politicians are now devoted to perpetuating themselves in office rather than spending their time doing the will of the people.

About the Book
"The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government". That observation was made by our third president, Thomas Jefferson. He also made the statement that "The course of history shows that as government grows, liberty decreases". This book chronicles the steady growth of our government since this nation was founded. It also notes the manner in which that growth has diminished the liberty of this nation's citizens. Each reader of this book and each citizen of this nation will decide for themselves the degree to which human life and happiness has been impacted by the growth of this nation's government over the course of its 236 year history. Our first president, George Washington in his farewell address to the nation stated that "Reason and experience forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle". This book will also review how the diminishment of the national morality in this nation has impacted the growth of government and the citizens of this nation.
About the Author
George E Pfautsch spent most of his working life as a financial executive for a major forests products and paper company. His final years at Potlatch Corporation were spent as the Senior Vice-President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Following his retirement, he began writing and speaking about the national morality he believes was intended for this nation by the founding fathers of our country. He is the author of six previous books on the subjects of morality, justice and faith. He is the co-author of a book written by Melitta Strandberg, which is the story of her family's quest for freedom before, during, and after World War II. He is also the co-author of a book written by Leroy New, the "Guitar Wizard" of Branson, Missouri. He is married to Dodi, his wife of 50 years. He has two children and four grandchildren
