He esteems you higher than a few minutes of good sex, and he begins to appreciate you for how you help balance him and keep him sane. How you defuse the chaos that often does a 100 yard dash through his mind at the most inopportune times. You are his place of peace, trust, comfort and love. And he will know that. When you are that you will never have to tell him your place in his life. And he may never tell you just how valuable you are to him. At least not in those words. So when he he’s talking to you there will be times you may never have to say a word. The stroke of your hand against the back of his head. The grasp of his knee. Wrapping yourself in his arms. Your back to his chest while he is ‘exhaling’ in your ear. And yes, men ‘exhale’ too. All of those things can make the worst day of his life into something better. Because this is not time for you to make love to his body, it is a time for your soul, to mate with his soul. To relax his mind, put at ease his emotions, and shut down the negative images in his head and allow him to collect himself. To reach into that low place that he is experiencing, and PULL HIM OUT. Sometimes without a word spoken, but volumes being said.
