Damn them! Did they think he was that stupid? He had been following her for weeks… months. Even before that billionaire prick came into her life. He knew where she was going and what she was doing at all times. They wouldn’t catch him unless he wanted them to. They could try but they wouldn’t. He could see the idiot down the street and he was pretty sure the big buy was waiting down the block for him. It wouldn’t be that easy for them to catch him. He was too good. And he would have her when they least expected it. She was his. She had been his first. He would have her and soon. He couldn’t wait much longer. The need was growing and growing fast. Mr. Prick Billionaire maybe with her tonight and maybe tomorrow night, but she would be his soon and then there would be no one after him. He would make sure of that. Even if they hovered over her all day, there would be a time when they couldn’t be there and that would be his chance. It would be when he would take her for his. She would be so excited. She would be so happy to find out he would the one looking out for her. She would send the Prick Billionaire packing and would stay with him forever.
***********
Grace unlocked her door and went in before she had a chance to make it turn on the lights, Gabriel was already at the window. He was scanning the streets for something, but what.
“Wait Grace. Don’t turn on those lights just yet.’
“What are you doing? Are you looking at Adrian?”…. “Gabriel, answer me. What are you looking at?”
“I don’t want to tell you. I don’t want to upset you. Adrian felt uneasy when we got out of the car. He was sending someone to sit down the street and watch. He went up the street. They’re watching the street.”
“You all think someone is out there?” Grace crossed the floor at almost a run she went to the same window. She stepped in front of Gabriel to look out the window at the street. She couldn’t believe someone might be out there watching. She looked frantically from side to side. She was starting to freak out. Her breathing quickened. Who would want to hurt her? She was nothing… simply nothing. She started to shake and get weak at the knees as she pressed her face to the cold window she tried to relax but the panic had set in it was too late.
Just then she realized Gabriel was behind her. He was so close. She could feel his strong commanding presence without even seeing him. She felt his hands slide around her waist and pull her back against him. She could feel his head pressed in her neck and ear. She felt him breathe and heard him say just above a whisper, “Grace relax. I’m here. I won’t let anyone hurt you. I won’t let anyone within a hundred feet of you if you don’t know who they are or want them there. Take deep breaths. Breathe in through your nose. Hold your breath… now let it out.”
Grace did as she was told. She did it three more times as Gabriel instructed her to. It helped her relax. Once she did, she realized he was still holding her. She could feel him pressing her into him. His body was hot and hard. She could feel his presence like no other. He was fire to her. He was stabilizing and grounding her. She needed that. She was desperate for it, but she couldn’t get use to it. It wouldn’t last. When the danger was past, he would go and she would be alone again. She must not get too deep.
“Are you alright now Grace? Tell me you’re alright and I can let you go?” He could still feel her trembling. He didn’t want to let her go. He wanted to hold her. He didn’t know why, but she got under his skin. Normally he would have had Adrian stay outside of anyone else’s apartment and be sure everything was okay, but not with Grace. He would take care of this himself. He couldn’t tear himself away form her. He wanted to… he had to know she was okay. He couldn’t leave that task to anyone, not even to Adrian. She was special. He had never felt like this before. He was fighting an internal struggle to keep his relationship with her platonic but it was a battle he wasn’t sure he could win.
