I want something to hold on to, Something that won’t fly away, All of the threads of your being have inched beneath my skin, Sometimes chances don’t fit together like the pieces of a puzzle, And sometimes while singing a song the right octave can’t be reached, But in the light of things, I feel that if I hold on to you tight enough, I will find the perfect piece to go along with the perfect melody, And I can weave you through its words.

About the Author
Heather McNierney has been pouring her thoughts and experiences into poetry from a young age. To Lay Barren in the Leaves is her first publication. She continues to write poetry surrounded by the beautiful scenery of Vermont. Hand in hand with poetry lies her thirst for science. Heather obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. She now works as a Clinical Chemist at Fletcher Allen Health Care.
