About the Author

I’m a retired teacher. I hold a Master’s degree in the teaching of reading. I have been a reading consultant for grades K through 12. I have taught elementary school (second grade), middle school and high school. I spent a few years as an English department chairperson. That just about sums up my 29 ½ years in public schools. The final 14 years of my career in education were spent teaching in a university’s graduate school—12 of which as the director of their teacher education program. Since obtaining my master’s degree many years ago, my passion has been teaching reading in content areas. I love watching people learn, be that learning languages, social studies, mathematics, the sciences, or the fine or performing arts. I feel that--with a few exceptions—fundamental to that learning is the ability to read. Hence, my passion. I currently reside with my wife in Florida enjoying golf and being inspired to write by my grandchildren.
