Tears A whole world can appear in a tear When from without, looking in We see ourselves reflected therein. Tears drop on all common places Reflecting life in all diverse faces. But can we see from without, looking in The source of their fall, The living waters sustaining them all? God gave us water, And with water came life. A world set in water, a whole world in a tear; Imagination bears form whence the mind it springs from. At Earth’s first dawn came both water and rain, And His gift of our life when tears fall again. His living waters shed meaning on pain, On tomorrow’s joys and fears, hopes and tears. For from without, looking in The eyes of God see From without, from within.

About the Book
It has been said that poetry is the art of naming things properly. Life, Death, And Resurrection is a book of poetry that is the fruition of the author’s journey into monasticism, a journey which seemingly leads away from the world, but which is actually a rushing into reality; it is a journey to find the ultimate meaning of one’s own existence, the ultimate meaning of life, and the name that God Himself gives to each one of us. This is a book about one soul’s search for God, and what that soul finds in this pursuit: life, death, and resurrection—God’s own poem He hides within every aspect of our lives. In these poems we find that ultimately it is the journey that will define who we are in the end, and it is the Cross that will show us how to live this journey; we will find our truest self, our true name, only in our love for God and neighbor. About the Author
Dewey J. Jones was born in 1980 to a mostly atheistic household. Lost and with little hope for the future, he dropped out of school at age fifteen. Shortly thereafter, a profound experience of God changed his life forever. Inspired by this experience and seeking God’s presence, he entered a monastery at age twenty-one, and during the following five years, wrote the poems contained in this book. In 2007 he returned to life in the world, and now lives a quiet life of prayer and physical labor, in care for his daughter and his disabled wife and son. They live together on a small farm in Cullman, Alabama.
