Shortly after the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989, near the Channel Islands off the coast of Santa Barbara, was born a sea lioness, named Lu-sea. As a young sea pup, Lu-sea loved to sing. She had no inhibitions about doing so. But Lu-sea grew to deny her enjoyment of singing because she felt her friends sang so much better than she. At the annual field trip in late July to perform on the K-docks at Pier 39, Lu-sea would just clam up. She was sure the tourists were laughing at her when she dared to sing the Bay Area Sea Lion Anthem, “If You’re Going to San Francisco.” She felt she had no talent whatsoever. Lu-sea did not realize the talents she did have.

About the Book
Near the Channel Islands, off the coast of Santa Barbara, lived Lu-sea, an energetic sea lion pup who loved to sing. But when Lu-sea took music classes in school, she feared singing because her friends seemed more talented than she. Through her life span, Lu-sea did some amazing things. It was at her retirement that Lu-sea realized the influence she had left on so many in her community just by being herself.
About the Author
Kelly Ann Guglietti lives with her husband, Philip, in San Antonio, Florida. She is an educator in the School District of Pasco County. Mrs. Guglietti is certified to teach Grades K-6 and received her MA in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida, Tampa in 2004.
