About the Book

“Overcome All Obstacles” is the conclusion of the autobiography of Andre Gilchrist and covers the years 2005–2014. The first book, “You Thought You Couldn’t Change, Either,” came out in February of 2006 and covered the life of Andre Gilchrist in a chronological order dating back from birth to 2005. Andre Gilchrist’s second novel, “Out of the Darkness Comes the Light,” came out in May of 2009. Due to the response from the author’s first and second book, the author has decided to keep his reading audience up-to-date with what is going on in the here and now. In the author’s first book, he described the journey of the individual who struggled within himself. The author takes the reader on a step-by-step journey from desperation to determination. In this book, the author reaches a stage in his life where he is comfortable with himself and his life but wants to point out that even at this point in one’s life one still has to deal with the trials and tribulations of life. It is important to the author to stress the point that it is not necessary to regress in order to progress. With a firm grasp of reality today, and not what one might want it to be, the author wants to show his audience it is possible to deal with life’s situations one at a time and always keep up front in his mind that God will not put more on him that he can carry.

About the Author

The author, Andre Gilchrist, recently celebrated his 59th birthday and was reminiscing about his life. His regrets, his accomplishments and things yet to accomplish were deep on his mind. The one thing that was clear was that he owed everything, whether it can be revealed as positive or negative, to the God he believes in and serves.
It seems like his life has come full circle. The author was born and raised in a small middle class town in New Jersey and through his exploits in the military and college, which has allowed him to travel around the world the author finds himself back where it all started.
The author, Andre Gilchrist, has been blessed with the ability to write three books, one play, and a column in a magazine online and is known in his local and state community as an activist and lobbyist.
There is an African proverb that states “it takes a whole village to raise a child.” The author credits with whatever he has been able to achieve the results of God and a few other individuals. Andre credits President Cary Israel (former president of Raritan Valley Community College) and two other English professors from Raritan Valley Community College (Professor Carroll Wilson & Professor Lisa Tucker). Andre also gives credit to Dr. John Pace (retired math professor of Essex County College and advisor to New Jersey Student College Coalition).
The main thing that the author wants to get across to whoever might read any of his written literature is that “If He Can Change, Then So Can You!”
