As I look back over my life and reflect on my accomplishments, the one thing that I’m most proud of is that I’ve stayed faithful to God and remained loyal to my family and friends. I had a dream as a young boy and the favor that God has shown me, has surpassed anything that I could have ever imagined. Although I’m only semi-retired from the dealership, I still go in on a daily basis to mentor my son and assist the other employees when needed. My “down time” is spent with my family. My wife and I are actively involved in various community and civic organizations and I spend a lot of time fishing, golfing, and attending sports events with my son. We often travel to California to attend family reunions with my wife’s family, and I’m very fortunate to have my sister, Brenda, living close by in Crestview, Florida. I don’t get to see my other siblings as often as I like, but we do get together when time permits, and we talk by telephone quite often. I love to travel so when I finally decide to retire, I’ll probably spend more time on the road and the sea, than at home. The task will be to find a travel spot that I haven’t been to because I’ve covered a lot of earth in my adult life. In addition to Alaska, I’ve been on five Mediterranean Cruises and visited Spain, Italy, France, Greece, and Morocco. I’ve been to London, England; South America; six Hawaiian Islands; Bahamas; Puerto Rico; St. Thomas; Australia, New Zealand; Africa, and the Middle East. Perhaps my most memorable travel spot was New Zealand, where I spent six months while in the Navy. The people were the most fabulous that I’ve ever met. Australia was another enjoyable military assignment. The culture, the people, the country, was all very fascinating to me. Recently, my wife and I, along with Irvin and his wife and 10 other couples, traveled to South America on a 5-day cruise on the Amazon River. It was the vacation of a lifetime. Everything from the cruise ship, to the food and sight – seeing was amazing. Everyone got along well, and Saundra and I made some new friends for life. Hard work is essential to one’s success, and when it’s balanced with spending time with family and friends, doing what you love, that is true happiness.

Leon Daggs tells the story of his humble beginnings as a young boy growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, and how he overcame numerous obstacles on his road to success. About the Author
Leon Daggs, Jr is President of Hub City Ford, Inc in Crestview, Florida, a position that he has held since January 1986. He is very active in community service in the Crestview community, as well as the surrounding areas. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, he has traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad. His dream of a military career ended after four years as a Navy officer. With a college degree and leadership experience from the military, he returned to the civilian workforce. For the next twenty years, he was employed by Proctor and Gamble, McDonnell Douglas, and Ford Motor Company. After seven years of management with Ford Motor Company, he decided to pursue the avenue of becoming a dealer. This was just a thought beyond reality that turned into a dream come true. Today, his time away from the dealership is spent with his family, fishing, and participating in civic activities in his community.
