About the Book

Miss Miller’s class has been complaining about learning math facts and doing math homework. Together with the help of her students’ parents, Miss Miller proclaims that they will all go through a whole week without using math. At first, the children are all excited about not having math in their lives. However, they soon discover how difficult everyday life can be without math. They realize how much of an impact math really does have on all areas of their lives. This funny, yet practical story helps to remind children and adults how important math is to the lives of everyone everywhere.

About the Author

All of Donna Miller’s thirty years of teaching have been with the Benjamin Logan Local School District in rural Bellefontaine, Ohio. This story was originally written to inspire Ms. Miller’s students to realize that math is important to our everyday lives in so many ways. Ms. Miller was thrilled to collaborate with her former second-grade student Joshua Hardman on the illustrations.
