The Po Valley - The carnage was indescribable even in the darkness. The flames touched everything with a flickering light. It was a scene from hell. From everywhere, there were screams and groans of the injured and dying. The streets were strewn with the dead and wounded. Without an examination, it was impossible to tell which, unless they moaned or moved. Jesus slid from the horse and went to the first person he saw. He knelt down, spent a few moments with him and moved on. James was flummoxed. He didn't know what he shoud do with Eric. Should he find Danton first or help the people? He had to find Danton. To go to the injured without bandages or medicine was futile, for him, at least. Corinth - "Corinth is a bad place." Amos said. "If a man likes all the bad things of women, and strong drink and bribery and abuse and corruption, he is called a Corinthian." James paused for reflection. "I think it is a bad place to take my little brother." He said. "No. I must go there. I must see and learn." Jesus said, "Amos and you can take care of me." James knew that Jesus said that for Amos' benefit and he could see the man grow taller and stronger just knowing that he had been given such a trust. It made James feel even better to know that Jesus would be so compassionate towards the feelings of another. "The camp followers fascinate me." Jesus said reflectively. Pompeii: Jesus was everywhere on the ship, talking, listening, and working with the crew. James could not, at times, understand the boundless energy that drove the child ceaselessly on some project or other and yet the still quiet peace that he displayed and somehow transmitted to others was a constant source of wonder. It became increasingly hard for James not to be drawn into the circle of which his brother was invariably the center. Then, he decided that he didn't want to avoid being engulfed by that magnetic aura. Within the force field that surrounded Him, James dreamed dreams and saw visions of a new life, a new world of hope and joy and tranquility, a new dimension to his own life that was far beyond the acquisition of material things but the growing vines of excellence, wisdom and compassion that ripened the fruit of friendship, kindness, tolerance, equality and fellowship. He could not speak in a language to describe it. It was just there. The Warning - "In the courtyard, James. It will be cooler there" ... "Now it comes to what I must ask of you. What I must ask of you, James, is DO NOTHING." James opened his mouth to speak. A promise to keep.

About the Book
We know much about Jesus’s early life and his last years. But there are twenty years for which little, if anything, is known. Did he simply spend his adolescence as a carpenter’s apprentice in Nazareth? Is that what he meant when he referred to “his Father’s work”? Or was there more to those two decades? Author Doris Broughton Heath was intrigued by those missing years. She used her insatiable curiosity and quest for knowledge and truth to open the door to Jesus’s whereabouts during those years. Heath spent the last seven years of her life working on My Brother, My Lord: A Journey with James and Jesus from the Temple to the Tomb. She brings together Jesus and his older brother, James, and sends them on a journey to spread the Word of God. They visit new and exciting cities and discover diverse cultures as Jesus performs his first miracles. Although a work of fiction, she researched the history and biblical events known to have occurred during that time to add authenticity. After Heath died in 1991, My Brother, My Lord: A Journey with James and Jesus from the Temple to the Tomb sat untouched until her daughter, Linda Stevens, found it six years later and fulfilled her promise to her mother to have it published. About the Author
Doris Broughton Heath spent her adult life as a wife and mother of three. She had an insatiable appetite for learning. Intrigued by Jesus’s missing years, she spent the last seven years of her life writing this book, which was finished after her death by her daughter, Linda Stevens.
