This book follows the life cycle of a sunflower plant as seen through the eyes of one of the seeds. It incorporates the seasons, life cycles, rural farm life, nature, and the close bonds of family. It is set on a farm and introduces vocabulary to children such as mulch, compost, heirloom seeds, as well as different types of birds, butterflies, and insects.
About the Author
About the Author: Evangeline Lincoln Wollmar is a retired kindergarten teacher and professional figure skater. She has been farming organically in Maine for over a decade. Her farm and the loss of someone very special were the inspirations for this story. This is her second children’s book. The first book was a story about her daughter titled The True Story of Skylar and Snickers, which celebrated a miracle that happened in Skylar’s life. About the Illustrator: Jaime Lynn Parent is a twenty-nine-year-old mother to her darling daughter, Brenna Bee. She’s a lifelong artist, musician, and baker. She has lived in Maine her entire life and is an avid forager, gardener, and herbalist. They dwell happily on a small farm with many kitties, puppies, and chickens.
