About the Book

Derek Shiel is a painter, sculptor, writer and lecturer. He has written and directed for theatre and exhibited his art in Britain and Europe, and given installation performances as a painter working with the composer Julia Usher. Exhibitions of his sound sculptures, with accompanying performances by his trio Sculpted Sound, have been held at the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art and at international music festivals. More than twenty composers have written for the sound sculptures.

About the Author

He is an artist, painter, sculptor, and writer living and working in London. He has published books and exhibited paintings and sculptures as well as made films on the work of David Jones and has given lectures on his subjects of painting, sculpting, writing, and architecture.
