About the Book

Writing weekly stand-alone stories to your grandchildren (or nieces/nephews) is just plain fun. You become their teacher, coach, historian, partner, mentor, and inspiration. You take a lot of pictures and you pay great attention to details to make your stories more comprehensive and entertaining. You publish your stories at a local printer every December to make Christmas books for each of your grands and their parents. Before you know it, you’ve “accidentally” written your awesome autobiography.

About the Author

Stephen W. Reiss was born in California in 1944 while his dad Irwin was serving with the US Army in World War II in Burma (Myanmar). His family of five moved to Sullivan, Indiana in 1948 but made quarterly visits to the Reiss Family Farm near Belleville, Illinois for the next 15 years. Some of those trips included extensions to Sikeston, Missouri to celebrate Thanksgiving with the Reiss and Standley families and to enjoy free ice cream at the Cow Bell Dairy Bar at the Reiss Dairy. Steve joined Caterpillar in Peoria, Illinois in 1966 as an electrical engineer but his 40-year career was primarily purchasing and supply chain which included five years in Southeast Asia. He married Diane in 1971 and they have two sons. Adam married Heather and they have Will and Ava. Grant married Hany and they have Kayla and Blake. All four grands helped author this second edition of “Reiss Dairy, famous for milk bottles with poems.”
