“Poetry Breathes Life Into Bible Characters” is Pat Morrell-Donnelly’s fifth book. Her first book published was, “The Climb Up Life’s Mountain,” containing motivational and inspirational poems. Next, “Poems For Conservatives,” (political.) “My Journey As A Realtor,” about her experiences of over fifty one years in the real estate profession as a Realtor/Broker. Her fourth book, “Honoring,” is about honoring God, Family, Friends, and Country. Pat has written over sixteen hundred poems. Pat spent over fifty one years as a Realtor/Broker in the real estate profession in the Bay Area near San Francisco. She obtained her Broker’s license in 1964. Pat has written articles about the real estate profession and about different Realtor’s, their lives and career’s. These articles and her poems have been used through the years by her Board of Realtors in the REALTORO, SACBOR Today, AND SACAR Realtor Guide. This fifth book is a book of ninety poems based on the lives of people in the Bible. Hopefully, these poems will in some way bring to life information about each person, their faith, their strength, and for some, their failings. These are poems about lives of bible characters from Abel to Zipporah. Pat’s poetry “breathes life” into these bible characters. In addition, there are a number of other “religious/spiritual type” poems included in the book. Pat didn’t start out with a plan about which person to write about first. In the beginning it was going to be about lives of Women in the Bible, then it branched out to the men also. Many times she would hear a sermon, or her sister, or a friend, would mention a Bible person, and she would then write a poem about that person. When writing about a particular person she would then feel compelled to write about their spouse, or someone connected to them. It is possible your interpretation will differ from hers. She would advise all to do their own reading and searching of the scriptures to evaluate for themselves. Her information was collected from the Bible as well as other sources. She has used a number of quotes from Bible verses. Pat’s education came mostly from the “School Of Hard Knocks.” She does not profess perfection in this book. Her desire is to glorify God with the gift He has given her to write poetry. To make the verses all rhyme, and still tell the story, was another challenge. Her goal, to make it more interesting for a “novice” to understand. She believes the Bible people’s lives described in poetry will make it easier for the young person to comprehend, learn, and enjoy. Pat feels it is important to be the best “example” possible particularly to young people. In any way possible be a “mentor” to them. Young people are greatly effected by negative words spoken to them, and these words can influence them throughout their life. When possible young people should be given encouragement, and taught to think positive about themselves, pointing out their possibilities and potential. Your influence may last long after you have departed this earth. Many in this country seem to have “turned their backs on God.” We have taken God out of government, our education system, and are forbidden to mention God’s name in many of our public forums. We were even told “this is not a Christian nation.” I feel positive our forefathers would not concur. Believer’s of God have made this country great. Millions of lives have been sacrificed for our freedom. Sadly, as in the book of Jeremiah, we have become a “divided” country. Only if we “turn back to God” will our country remain great and free. May the pleasure of reading these poems about lives of people in the Bible bless each reader, and bring to life the story of each Bible character. May each Bible Character “live on” through Pat’s poetry.
