All I Ever Wanted

Before Sheila could turn into the kitchen, Her brother, Nathan slapped her to the ground. In one swift move Nathan whipped off his belt and began beating her. In every strike Sheila felt his displaced fury. She curled into a ball screaming from the pain. Nathan yelled with each blow, "You so hardheaded. You never listen. I told you not to come back inside this house. I'm a man and you're going to obey me. You better not say anything to Mommy. You better not open your big mouth." "Now are you going to tell Mommy?" WHOP came down the vengeance of his belt. "Answer me!" WHOP another strike. "Did you hear me?" WHOP, WHOP. Sheila could not answer because she was crying hysterically. "Answer me you little hard headed Snitch." WHOP "No," Sheila managed to whimper between hysteria. "No, what?!!" Nathan raised his belt to strike again. This time before he could complete the blow, Sheila managed, "I won’t tell Mommy." WHOP, he beat her again. "And you don't come back until dinner time." He hit her one final time. "Now get up, go in the bathroom, fix yourself and get outside." JR just watched the abuse with amusement. Sheila did as commanded. In the bathroom mirror she saw her eyes were red and swollen. Her legs, arms and back were bruised. She wiped her tears, fixed her clothes and left the house. She never did get that glass of water. She spent the rest of the afternoon hiding in the park behind a tree. She cried and cried. She never told her mother Nathan had a boy in the apartment. She was beaten to keep many secrets not only by her brother, but also her father and sister. As the youngest in the family Sheila was defenseless against their physical abuse. So she kept their secret indiscretions out of fear for her life.
