“I’m a pragmatist,” said the headmaster. “I’m skeptical of anything old hat. I don’t like children being shackled to long-set values and many of the traditions we have to adhere to even when they’re useless. Things change. We must go with the changes and adapt. Children should be trusted more. They need to find out for themselves. It’s our job as educators to confront our pupils with challenging situations and help them cope.”
