About the Book

I always knew I wanted to be a parent, but I was uncertain of whether I would be any good at it. It was not an overwhelming fear, but it was most certainly a concern. My own childhood was riddled with much dysfunctionality: generous helpings of abandonment, lack of validation, and rejection with one transition after the next. Stability and normalcy were a distant dream, and surviving was the driving force. Blessed with smarts, great people skills, and athletic abilities, I was able to overcompensate for these obvious failings and succeed. My relationship with God was by far the only part of my life that was true and sure. When you have not been parented in a healthy way, only encountering snippets of knowledge from various adults who popped in and out of your life as parents, it became very clear that I had no idea about the quality of parenting I would adopt in my own life. Should I be blessed to be a mother? Would I be better than what was modeled before me? Or would I be worse?

About the Author

Lorene has a successful international underwriting career in the Re/insurance industry for over 2 decades and owns her own professional corporate coaching firm Clarendon Wallace. She is happily married for 23 years to her husband Eugene and they have 3 sons’ ages 16 years – 22 years old. Lorene has held various leadership roles both within the church and in her professional corporate life that provides her with a platform for her to both mentor and coach many individuals. She is passionate about motivating and inspiring others to be the very best they can be. Lorene has a BA in Economics from Acadia University and is a Chartered Insurer with the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK) and is also a qualified Corporate and Personal coach with The Coaching Academy (UK). Eugene is passionate about people and values relationships as the key to success in business, leisure and life. Being the best that you can be within any relationship brings the best results in all areas. With this in mind, being a husband, father and friend is the ultimate priority for Eugene. A lover of music, Eugene is a vocal soloist, pastor and teacher. Eugene is a pro-active IT professional, Prince2 certified, with a proven record of planning, building, implementing and supporting a range of IT solutions that address business needs. Eugene holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Computer Business Systems from Ryerson University.
