About the Book
I stand an impressive six feet four inches and am slight of build. I have eyes that will bore into your very being, and if ya pick a fight, I will steal your soul. They say I am the devil’s spawn. The night is when I bring the fight. I have cannon fuses lit in me hair. That will give you a scare. Around me neck, me baldric carries six pistols. I am an excellent shot, so do not plot. I wear a red coat that smells of the dead. Around me waist is a sword that has found many a head. Do not raise your sword to me, or you will find yourself dead. I have a dagger hidden—it is true. It might be small, but when I bring it to the fight, it be true to its mark, and you will fall. I have about me weathered face a beard as black as a moonless night. The smell of rum and sea are a part of me. Be it known for those to fear so do not plea. For when they hear, Blackbeard, terror of the sea.
About the Author
I have been portraying Edward Teach (Blackbeard) in various contexts for over seventeen years and have played that role on stage for fifteen years. Blackbeard actually was six feet four inches, and that is my height. As part of my costume, I wear five pistols and sometimes a blunderbuss and a sword. All the guns are real, and the getup weighs about sixty pounds in total. I do kids’ pirate shows, and I also do historical talks about Blackbeard. My fellow pirates suggested I write a book, and Edward Teach, Better Known as Blackbeard is the result.
