About the Book

Written by Sylvia’s daughter-in-law and son, Brenda and Van D. Woods it explores and relates to a journey of success and happiness of an American family. Aimed at young readers, it tells how Sylvia and Herbert hailed from a humble background in the South and became the owners of a multimillion-dollar enterprise in the North. It also includes assignments, reading activities, and quizzes for use in the classroom. Growing Up Sylvia’s shares the story of a family who represents what can be done with faith, love, determination, and unity within a family.

About the Author

Brenda Woods is an Administrator in at Elementary School in Lake City, SC with master’s degree in Education. Brenda is the wife of Sylvia Woods’s oldest son, Van. Brenda and Van have two children, Sierra Sylvia and Devaughn Dax. She enjoys helping students to learn and to succeed as lifelong learners. Van D. Woods is one of the owners of Sylvia’s Enterprises, with a master’s degree in business. Van is the visionary of the Sylvia Woods Empire. Brenda and Van were inspired to write this book by their beloved mother, Mrs. Sylvia Woods.
