About the Author
HERBIE DUNNAN was born in Jamaica in 1957 and lived there until he was eight years old. He came to England in October 1964 with his eldest sister, to be reunited with his parents and younger sister. They came to England a few years earlier. At seventeen he fell in love and eventually became a father to a little girl, but the relationship didn’t last and through anger, frustration and fear of the future he started writing, putting his thoughts to paper; he found this to be very therapeutic. Poems such as, A Father’s Lament for His Child, Redundant and Tottenham Riot will definitely resurrect thoughts and feelings in most readers. Other poems such as, The NHS, Night Life in Soho and Man and Machine are more from an observational point of view, though some readers may also have had the same interpretation. Anything and everything inspires him now from writing poems of Love to poems about everyday life. Over the years he has been encouraged by family and friends to put his work in to print and get his work published. He feels that his work represents many people’s experiences and thoughts. He also hopes that through his writing he can bring comfort and laughter to the reader.
