The Traveler and Other Stuff

The train pulled into the middle-of-nowhere station, and the traveler got his carry bag and headed for the doorway.
The conductor met him in the aisle. “This is not your stop, sir,” he said. “In fact, we’ve still got a ways to go.”
“That’s okay,” the traveler said. “I’ll catch another train that’s passing through. My ticket’s still good, isn’t it?”
“Well, yeah, it is,” the conductor said.
The traveler exited the train and stood on the deserted platform. He was thinking, I’m just a symbol of anyone who needs a break from the normal.
