A BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER By: Author Renee’ Drummond-Brown You children, without a shadow of doubt; WILL listen to me, as I have listened tenderly, and been taught by the best of the prolific best yet: Dunbar Hughes Angelou Wheatley, Walker and Toi Derricotte. My poetry links the bridge that connects unto this 21st century. My structures’ built ov’r troubled waters. Erected in Jim Crow’s of valley lows, so others can continuously cross ov’r me. To much is given… much is required. This. Without a shadow of A doubt is wisdom. I do know. A centuries soulful connection. A catalyst, (if you will). I am thee. My poetries expose untold secrecies. My bridge secures worldviews; governing a body of international Civil Rights yesteryears blackISH kind-of blues. Moreov’r, my new strength’s length suits any weight from scholarly to laymen views. For so long coloreds have been stripped of dignity, their voice-tress legacy. And-yes…shameful to say, even their exposed lying history. On ‘dat Auction Block; ‘dem slaves, couldn’t talk. So. I come, in the name Of The Father, Spirit an’ Their Son; POETICALLY CORRECT. To spit them sum long, loong, looong over-due RESPECt. Don’t burn that bridge! And please never forget! About the Book
Because literature needed to be extended across oceans, over mountaintop heights and/or valley lows by our ancestors, a bridge was assembled to link the messages through poetry to the masses by networking one to another. It interconnected the past to the present and together, the bond operates as a linkage toward the future. Their device was genius and the dialect was sheer brilliance. A bridge over troubled water served our ancestors purpose of preserving the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
About the Author
Renee’ Drummond-Brown is a renowned author from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Geneva College of Western Pennsylvania and The Center for Urban Biblical Ministry (CUBM). Renee’ is still in pursuit of excellence towards her mark for higher education. She is an accomplished poetess with experience in creative writing and authored several books to her credit. Her work has recently been nominated by the Scarlet Leaf Review's list for “Best of the Net” nominations, 2018. September, 2018, Wildfire Publications Magazine awarded Renee’s poem "BLACK CRIMES MATTER" Poem of the month. She has numerous works published globally which can be seen in cubm.org/news, KWEE Magazine (Liberian L. Review), Leaves of Ink Magazine, Raven Cage Poetry and Prose Ezine, Scarlet Leaf Publishing House, SickLit Magazine, The Metro Gazette Publishing Company, Inc., Tuck, and Whispers Magazine, amongst many others. Because her work is viewed on a global scale this solidifies her as a force to be reckoned within the literary world of poetry. Renee’ is inspired by non-other than Dr. Maya Angelou, because of her, Renee’ posits “Still I write, I write, and I’ll write!”
