About the Author

Chavon D. White has always loved to write and can now add the title author to her resume with her first book, The Hoopstar. She is a native of Louisiana, where she resides with her family. Chavon is an educator, school counselor, small business owner, wife, and mother of five. She plans to celebrate her love for reading and writing with hundreds of kids each year through her author visits. She hopes children will want to take a plunge into a good book. We received our copy May 2019. My 7year old son was very excited to take a jab at reading the book once I told him it was about a young lady that is dyslexic. While my 9 year old daughter listen. They both were inspired by the book. They were intrigued by her drive not to give up and motivated by her quest to push forth using her strong hold with basket ball. I gave the book five stars because it is an awesome book that my family enjoyed. I strongly recommend purchasing for any child that has a learning disability or a passion for reading. The book was language was perfect for my son. He is a troubled reader but was able to sound out words with ease and read it smoothly.
