Some dreams inevitably and coincidentally come true, and others come true only when a person devotes the time and attention to make it so. One such universal dream is the one on high quality of life, which everyone desires to experience. This book presents ideas which are beneficial for everyone, from childhood through adulthood, regarding 21 behavioral components which, when practiced, add joy and value to each day: Winners Always Practice Program (WAPP). The road to travel for realizing the dream of high quality of life is the adoption of the WAPP mentality. The program was first introduced in the book: The Emerson Street Story: Race, Class, Quality of Life and Faith, published – August 2020. There is no guessing about this, or assumptions being posited; rather, just a review of recommendations for behaviors, practices, and actions which lead to success, happiness, and high quality of life. Each category is aligned with ten biblical verses, and “faith” is intertwined throughout the program as a means for demonstrating relevance and significance. The author deliberately limited the explanations to brief and common terms per category, while noting that all categories are important and that it makes a tremendous difference to “connect the dots” within and across each category. That is, no category is a “throw away” or insignificant area of importance -- practicing each component everyday enables a person to better enjoy life and happiness. How do moments or memories fit into the picture? Moments in the context of this book refer to those special instances that are so profound they are etched into the mind and become memories, some positive and enlightening and others not so positive. Such memories -- positive and negative or frightening -- can often last a lifetime and influence a person’s thoughts and actions. The more a person focuses on the positive experiences and moments, the more that person’s outlook on life is predictably positive. The difference between success and failure is often controlled and determined by the way a person thinks and looks at the circumstances. The idea of thinking you can succeed is a giant step in the right direction toward the victory!

About the Book
This book is about the Winners Always Practice Program (WAPP), which is a set of tips on winning strategies for sports, games, and life. The information presented is beneficial to everyone, from childhood through adulthood on 21 components to consider which, when practiced, add joy and value to each day. Each component is aligned with ten biblical verses to tie the recommendations with a faith-based platform. The program was first introduced in the book, entitled: The Emerson Street Story: Race, Class, Quality of Life and Faith, published – August 2020. Following the recommendations for behaviors, practices, and actions dramatically increases the chances for success, happiness, and higher quality of life. The author explains how practicing each of these categories and components each day positively affects relationships with others within and across race, class and otherwise. About the Author
Dr. Johnny Edward Brown is a native of Austin, Texas, residing during his early life on Emerson Street. He graduated from the original L. C. Anderson High School, where he was a member of the varsity basketball team. He became the first African American athlete for an intercollegiate athletic program at Southwest Texas State University (Texas State University) in San Marcos, Texas. Dr. Brown worked as a teacher-coach early in his career, first at the middle school level in San Antonio and then Austin, where he became the first high school varsity head basketball coach at the current L. C. Anderson High School. Dr. Brown has served as an administrative leader, including principal and superintendent, for schools and school districts in four states. He earned the Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Education degrees at Texas State University, and the terminal degree, Doctor of Philosophy, at the University of Texas at Austin. He has completed post-graduate work and serves as an adjunct professor at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He routinely speaks to various audiences regarding the successful education of our youth. Dr. Brown is an active volunteer in his community. He and his wife, Carolyn, also an educator, are members of the St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Austin and regular attendees and supporters of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Beaumont. They are parents of a son, two daughters, two sons-in-law, and one granddaughter. Dr. Brown is the author of the book: The Emerson Street Story: Race, Class, Quality of Life and Faith (2020).
