About the Book
A spoiled cat, Pumpkin, tells a story about two dogs who came to live with her, ruining her quiet life and tidy house. The dogs, Betsy and Barkey, became great friends and played roughly every day until something terrible seemed to be happening to Barkey’s legs. Everyone was concerned, but then a wonderful solution was found. And ultimately Pumpkin has a change of heart.
This story is told in verse and portrayed in amusing illustrations. It is written to appeal to preschool and young readers, but sure to be enjoyed by any age dog or cat lover!
About the Author
Mary Ellen Warner loves all kinds of dogs—especially Betsy and Barkey, who inspired this story along with Pumpkin, the cat. As a children’s book author, she frequently uses animals to subtly communicate messages about friendship, courage, curiosity and creativity. Adventure on Gallop Ghosts Islands is another of her recent publications. Coming soon is Cloudie with a Chance of Rain.
