About the Book

Timing is everything. Playing a bridge hand, either as declarer or defender is often difficult enough. But in addition, knowing when to do whatever it is you are supposed to do adds another perspective to the game. Card play includes recognition of deal types that can guide you to the best plan. This book examines which of the tasks you hope to accomplish must be done when. Whether you declare or defend, you must make some useful plays promptly, but others can or must wait. After studying and absorbing the lessons in the deals in this book, you will find your timing to have improved whether playing a simple part score or defending against a complicated slam.

About the Author

Dr James Marsh Sternberg is a radiologist in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida & Professor of Radiology at two northern universities. He currently teaches bridge in Florida. He has won several North American National Championships and has written extensively for many bridge publications. He is the author of more than twenty books on bridge instruction and has won multiple awards from the American Bridge Teacher’s Association’s ‘Books of the Year’ competitions. ‘Dr J’ is a monthly columnist in the ACBL Bulletin. Dr Sternberg lives in Palm Beach Gardens with Vickie Bader. He can be reached at mmay001@aol.com. Danny Kleinman is a world class bridge player, backgammon expert, author, and teacher. He has improved the game for an innumerable number of students and written more bridge, backgammon and other books than could be listed here. He has written countless articles for The Bridge World over more than 30 years and directed its Master Solvers’ Club twice annually for more than 17 years.
