About the Book

“The Song of Roland and Oliver – Book I The Sons of Aymon” is the first book of the follow-on Trilogy to his first Trilogy series, “The Song of Charlemagne” all of which he asserts are based on known, historically documented events and real-life characters mentioned by Twelfth Century troubadours in the Chansons de Geste.


About the Author

Mr. Motter attended University of Missouri and Stephens College in Columbia where he received his BA degree in English Lit. Tom also attended Berkeley College of Optometry and studied for his MBA at Pepperdine. He served as VP of HGM Medical Lasers, headquartered in Paris France and is fluent in French. In his free time, he conducted research on French, Medieval History at the Bibliotheque Nationale and made numerous on-site visitations to historically documented locales known to have been visited by Charlemagne and often referenced in the Chansons. Mr. Motter is a long-time member of “Socie’te’ Roncesvalles” comprised of Romance Language Department Chairs of almost every college and university worldwide. The author was raised on a cattle ranch in the San Joaquin Valley of California, rode Saddle-Broncs in PRCA sanctioned Rodeos and is an expert equestrian. He is a certified Open-Water Diver and has dived all over the world. In addition, he is an expert surfer still paddling out a few days a year in Capitola, CA where he currently resides. Mr. Motter is also an expert skier having served on the National Ski Patrol for many years. This author is also a “Knight Hospitaller” having been knighted in 1997 by the patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Holiness, Alexi for contributions of medical equipment he made to East Block Countries on behalf of his NASDAQ company after the wall came down. Tom is also a Grand Nephew (once removed) of President Dwight D. (“Ike”) Eisenhower.
