Good caregivers are dependable, compassionate and trustworthy. A good caregiver also feels at ease with both the client and their family member(s). There are times when it’s challenging to provide the necessary care that our loved ones need. A family member or paid helper who regularly looks after a child or a sick, elderly or disabled person. A person who gives care to people who need help taking care of themselves. Examples include children, the elderly or patients who have chronic illnesses or are disabled.


About the Author

Marsha Nixon-Powell is a Philadelphia native. She lives with her family in Northeast Philadelphia. She is a long-time cancer survivor who has been a business owner (Family Day Care) and currently works as a Behavioral Health Technician in the Philadelphia school system with autistic and special-needs students. Marsha also works as a home caregiver for senior citizens in the Philadelphia and Bucks County areas. She is an inspiration to those who know her and continues to learn and develop new leadership and professional skills. She recently wrote her first book – “I’m The Healthiest Sick Person I Know.” Nixon-Powell is also looking forward to a career as motivational speaker to senior citizens in the surrounding communities. She is a hard worker and in spite of her many medical ailments and chronic health conditions, she is still going strong at seventy-four years of age!
