About the Book
Yahweh or the Highway, was written by Erik P. Scribner. He wrote the book two years after becoming blinded and paralyzed by a rare form of multiple sclerosis. The book is not simply an autobiography. It is a collection of essays -- all which focus upon life's greater purpose and meaning. Yahweh or the Highway, is both inspirational and therapeutic. It takes the reader on a journey from denial through acceptance and on to action. This is not simply a self-help book for people with illnesses or serious problems. Reading it is time well spent for individuals of all ages and walks of life.
About the Author
Erik P. Scribner is a visually handicapped paraplegic. He is an American and a graduate of Carroll College, Waukesha, Wisconsin. He suffers from Acute Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, a rare form of M.S. He was blinded and paralyzed from the neck down in a mere 48 hours after being hospitalized at the age of 31in May, 1997. The previous week he had been training for what would have been his fourth marathon. All systems were go, or so he thought.
His vision has continued to improve and he has regained significant use of both arms, however he remains paralyzed from the armpits down and is confined to an electric wheelchair.
After 22 months of hospitalization and rehabilitation Erik returned home to his wife, Milène, in Delft, the Netherlands. He continues to receive daily nursing care and follows a strenuous physical therapy program.
