Tell'em Anything

Now here is the place for real things that happen. I must pass along my apologies to the ladies of the corporate work force. Since I am not into being charged with sexual misconduct, there will be little to say on the women s behalf, in this subject matter. Or what happens behind closed doors in the area of the restroom.

This is the domain of the male species, he is in control here, he will allow others of his kind to roam about but they must not mark their territory in the same place as you are marking yours. You must not look at the other male next to you. You may talk or look at the ceiling but do not make eye contact until the marking is done.

These are some of the rules which are unwritten but yet followed very closely. You may talk to the person in the other stall, but it must be a general acknowledgement of the other person. If you know the other person you can make light of other subject matter or even make it a serious matter. But you cannot get into the meat of the matter until the duty is done and it is washed away. You step out of the hole in which you have released the burden you were carrying. The door opens you see the other person and the conversation continues, this time with more conviction.

I want to take a moment and express one of my biggest concerns and try to figure out why men do this, not all men just some. And I know for a fact, women will be cheering me on. I know if this bugs me, it must rip the hell out of the female species. How do I say this? "FLUSH THE DAM TOILET WHEN YOU ARE DONE!" I can never figure this out. You are standing there, doing your thing, or sitting there doing it. You finish and then you look, everyone does. PUSH THE BUTTON, PULL THE HANDLE, what is it with this? Is it to prove that you can mark in a different color or shape? Is it you want others to know you can fill the air with your grace? Or is it you have never been potty trained properly to understand the intricate workings of a flushable toilet?

Now here is the day that everyone waits on. It is the most popular day and the most scrutinized day of any within the work month.

This is the day of rejoice. It is the day when there is an underlying happiness within the workplace. Until the checks get opened, then the truth hits. It comes in statements like, "I PUT ALL THAT EXTRA TIME IN FOR THIS"! Or "THIS WON T COVER MOST OF THE BILLS", etc. very seldom is it a happy time after opening the checks. It is a perceived disappointment; the numbers do not match what the workers think they are worth. However when the higher ups open their checks or statements of pay, they do one of two things. Either they smile and are happy at what they see or they act just like the workers, and think they are not being paid what they are worth.

This is where money management comes in, I think and have made suggestions to companies about teaching or holding classes on money management to teach employees on how to handle money. And not those stupid classes where they bring a broker in and tell you what to invest in. I am as guilty as the next person is, when it comes to spending money foolishly. Let s face it, no one ever taught me how to handle the dollar. Hell they never taught me the meaning of the dollar.

Me, it was, give me the check, let me cash it and where is the bar! Then for the next two weeks it was borrowing money from everyone to survive the week. I did not know how to handle money. My dad always called it "BURNING A HOLE IN MY POCKET" it is also the reason why the lotteries setup payments for the winners. We as a working class were taught and we believe that having a lot of money is something we were not allowed to have. So we self-destruct our good fortune because we believed we did not deserve it. Well I for one have learned that I am worth it and, damn it, I deserve it also. It is the attitude that I have when I apply for a job, I am worth this much or more, and if you Mr. Corporation don t see that I am worth it, then we part ways.
