I was born on the 14th day of April 1939, in the district of maroon town, in the parish of St. James, on the island of Jamaica, West Indies. This district in which I was born, has a historical background. Jamaica, is one of the most beautiful, hard to make it, free and fruitful island of the world. Since the days of our fore, fathers, man and women have learned to live and toil for what they want, on this island, and because of this, the natives have learned, to love the better things of life, to aim high, and reach out for a place in this world, and most of the people, try to prepare for a place in the world to come. I n spite of the hard days, or happy and the excited life, of yours and mine, God is able to open and close the widest doors in our lives. Yes! My God is able. MY NATURAL PARENTS My parents were not born in the district of Maroon Town, but in a place called St. Elizabeth. They left from St. Elizabeth one morning while it was still dawn to travel to the district of Maroon Town to make a new life. When I visit St. Elizabeth, I found it to be a very fruitful part of the island. This is where most of the Corn, Peas, Mangoes, Breadfruit, Pimento and Aeschylean, come from, to supply other parts of the island and mostly those in the Cities, namely Kingston and Montego Bay. My mother was born a talented and attractive lady. She was the last of five sisters for her mother and the only daughter for her father who also had two sons, Sam and John. She was 5 feet and 4 inches tall. My father was of short status , dresses well and always looking neat, with neatly shaped whiskers, thick eyebrow and a nose that was so straight, it looks like an arrow. He was the first of four brothers but the smallest in size, weighing 130 pounds. My father went to Panama, where he worked for a while on the Panama Canal and was soon able to help his younger brothers. My mother and father built a lovely home, ran a prosperous business and soon they were able to live independently and provide many people in that district with jobs. They gave whatever they could to help the poorer people, who needed help and surely God blessed them. Yes! God was very good to them and before long, they were able to enjoy some of the better things of life, that life had to offer them in those days. Until this day some of those people will tell you, how good my parents were, everyone you meet will say that, even if they had only heard that from others.

About the Author
Neatris C. Mitchell was born on the island of Jamaica, the West Indies, and she has fancied herself a writer, songstress, and radio and television host along with enjoying many other creative outlets. She has been these things and more, serving as a teacher and as a nurse for many years since coming to the United States and becoming a naturalized citizen. She continues her writing and singing. The author received the 1990-1991 Award for Nursing from "Who’s Who in American Nursing," located in Washington, D.C., and she has worked with the New York Community finding jobs for many in the health care field. A Seventh Day Adventist, Ms. Mitchell has been a member of the Grand Concourse Temple in the Bronx, New York. She has also done over ten years of radio and ten years of television broadcasting in and for the New York Health and Community Service Organizations, in talent, greeting and talk shows. The author was married for over thirty-three years, and has two grown children, two grandchildren and currently makes her home in New York City when not in Florida. This is the author’s first published book.
