"Lizzy, can’t none a this be happenin’. You gotta be dreamin’ still," I said to myself, standing there on the porch of the house that I adored so. But then, very slowly and carefully, I opened my eyes that seemed almost glued shut, and I realized very suddenly, it wasn’t a dream at all. Dean’s big manly arms were wrapped around my fragile body, holding me tight. His eyes were gleaming, and in those eyes, I saw my future. "Mrs. Dean Thomas," I thought to myself, smiling as though I’d been placed on a cloud, left floating above everyone else on this earth. My feet didn’t even seem to be touching ground, the way my emotions had taken me over. Even though I knew I wasn’t dreaming, it sure resembled many I’d had in the past. Still not saying a word aloud, I couldn’t help but look into the face of the man before me, who had just offered me more than I ever dreamed of. His shiny dark hair, that was perfect, seemed to compliment his tanned complexion that was so very handsome. But even more than that, his sexy green eyes looking back at me were nothing short of a crystal ball telling me what my future was going to be like. I saw my present and all of my future in just one glance, and even though the cold wind continually blew threw me, standing there wrapped up in his arms, I felt nothing but the warmth from his heart to mine. It was warmth beyond any I’d felt. His hands were like tiny blankets covering me, and the flame in his eyes, was enough to thaw even the coldest of hearts. The moment was that of perfection, one to be etched in my heart’s memory until the day I leave this earth, and even then, I’ll never forget. "What’cha thinkin’ darlin’?" Dean said, giving a little wink, knowing how mind always seemed to wander. Listening to Ma, Pa, Betty Jean, Luther and Douglas inside laughing and talking, I didn’t quite know how to answer such a question. So many things were running rampant through my thoughts that I couldn’t pick one thing to focus on. Everything I’d been surprised with, in such a short amount of time, left me dumbfounded, but happy. Shaking my head, I looked up at him out of the corner of my eye, "Just everything Dean. I’m thinkin’ of everything. This house you’ve fixed just for me, the ring and the proposal. I guess I’m a little overwhelmed that’s all. It ain’t bad thoughts goin’ through this country mind of mine, I promise baby, but just thoughts...good ones. I hear Ma and Pa in there laughin’ like I ain’t heard them laugh in God knows how long. Heck, even Douglas, that ole crazy brother of mine, is smilin’ a normal smile, and not one a them half cocked smiles like he always gives when he’s up to somethin’. Of course, Betty Jean and Luther look like they always do...in love." "You mean like us darlin’?" he said, Manifesting a million stars through his eyes. "Just like us Dean," I replied, savoring the moment. "I suppose everybody’s just happy Elizabeth. Are you happy?" he asked, looking as if he were waiting on an answer to a million dollar question.

About the Author
Mrs. Thompson has always been a very vivid writer, using description as the main key. "Giving up just isn’t in my vocabulary," she said, determined to fulfill her dream one day without hesitation and without losing sight of what was important to her. After playing reporter at several different colleges when she was younger, she realized that wasn’t her style of writing. The creativity she was born with was overflowing day after day, reaching for something she could find that would satisfy her taste for the art. Then, after writing her second book, the knowledge she had learned through many of the people who she saw as mentors in her life, including Dr. Terry at SAU where she attended college, had a great impact on the way she saw her future and her goals. From then on, the words came easier, flowed more smoothly from that brain of hers that was filled with ideas, stories, realities, and memories. All of these things, helped to mold, a once want to be author, into a published author. From that day forward, there was no more looking back. Mrs. Thompson had her eye in the direction she wanted to go, and vowed to herself that she would make it. "Persistence is the key," some say, but self-assurance and motivation will also turn the knob to the doorway into the next area of your life--and so Mrs. Thompson, with keys in hand, is on her way on a journey she’s wanted to take since she first put pencil to paper when she was ten years old . . . a journey long over due--the journey of grasping her dream.
