The first part of the dissertation deals with information theory. Shannon's Information Theory is explained and addressed in context to language. The second part of the dissertation is on aspects of randomness and complexity. In addressing randomness and complexity, the work of Chaitin, Kolmogorov, and Solomonoff is reviewed with questions raised that deal with the fundamental levels of both randomness and complexity. Information theory are fundamental aspects of modern technology and that they form an important field of study in the engineering disciplines.

Dr. Tice is Director and Institute Professor of Chemistry at Advanced Human Design in Cupertino, California. Dr. Tice is currently doing research on organic semiconductors.
